Terms of Service

Effective: January 1, 2026 · Last updated: September 28, 2026

The short version

  • All work is done at our Holland shop. We do not offer mobile or roadside service.
  • A diagnosis is $75; an electrical diagnosis is $125. If you have us do the repair, the fee is credited toward your bill.
  • This website gives general information. Sending a form does not book a repair or approve work, and online prices and time estimates must be confirmed by the shop.
  • We give you a price and wait for your OK before any repair. No surprise charges.
  • 1-Year Warranty on Alternator & Starter Rebuilds. Other parts carry the maker's warranty.
  • Payment is due when the work is done.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to your use of toughknucklesautorepair.com (the "Site") and to any vehicle service you request from Tough Knuckles Automotive ("we," "our," or "us"). By using the Site or leaving your vehicle with us, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or our services. Anything we agree to in writing on a signed repair order for your specific job controls over these general Terms.

1. Services

We provide auto repair, maintenance, and automotive electrical services at 932 Holland Park Blvd, Holland, OH 43528. All work is performed at the shop; we do not offer mobile, roadside, or at-home service. We may decline any job at our discretion — for example, if parts are not available, a vehicle is unsafe to work on, or the work is outside what our shop is equipped to do.

2. Diagnostic fees

  • A standard diagnosis is $75. An electrical diagnosis is $125.
  • The fee pays for our time to test the vehicle and find the cause. It is due whether or not you choose to have us do the repair.
  • The diagnostic fee is due at drop-off.
  • If you have us do the repair we diagnosed, we credit the diagnostic fee toward that bill. The credit applies only to the repair we diagnosed.
  • Some faults, especially ones that come and go, may need more testing time than a standard diagnosis covers. If so, we explain why and get your approval before any additional diagnostic time is billed.
  • A diagnosis is our professional opinion based on the tests we perform and the condition of the vehicle at that time. Intermittent faults may not appear during testing.

3. Estimates and authorization

  • Sending a website form, using a calculator or the diagnostic check, or calling us does not book a repair or approve any work. We confirm the appointment and price with you directly.
  • Prices, price ranges, and time estimates on the Site, from our online tools, or given before we see the vehicle are general information only, not a quote or a promise. They must be confirmed by the shop after we inspect the vehicle. See our Website Disclaimer and Repair Policies.
  • After we inspect the vehicle, we give you an estimate. You may ask for it in writing.
  • We will not start a repair, or go over the approved amount, without your authorization. If we find another problem during the repair, we stop and contact you first.
  • You may ask for your replaced parts back when you authorize the repair, except parts that must be returned to the supplier for a warranty claim or a core charge.
  • Estimates are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise, since parts prices change.

4. Parts, rebuilds, and cores

  • Depending on the job and your preference, we may use new, rebuilt/remanufactured, or used parts. We tell you which before the work starts.
  • Rebuilt alternators and starters are rebuilt from your unit or a core. If your original unit cannot be rebuilt, we will tell you your options.
  • Some replacement parts carry a core charge that is refunded or waived when the old part is returned to the supplier.
  • If you would like to supply your own parts, please ask us first.

5. Scheduling, turnaround, and cancellations

  • Any completion time we give is an estimate. Parts delays, supplier errors, or additional faults found during the repair can change it. We keep you updated.
  • To cancel or reschedule, contact us at least 24 hours ahead at (419) 392-5926 or toughknucklesautomotive@gmail.com.

6. Vehicle drop-off, test drives, and pickup

  • Please remove valuables before drop-off. We are not responsible for personal items left in the vehicle.
  • Tell us about known issues, warning lights, aftermarket parts or wiring (remote start, alarms, stereos, lights), and past repairs. Undisclosed issues can affect the diagnosis and the repair.
  • By leaving your vehicle, you authorize us to operate it, including road tests, as needed to diagnose and verify repairs.
  • Vehicles are released after payment in full, unless we agreed to other arrangements in writing. Ohio law may give repair shops a lien on a vehicle for unpaid repair charges.

7. Storage and unclaimed vehicles

  • Please pick up your vehicle promptly once we tell you it is ready. Vehicles left more than 3 business days after that notice may be charged a daily storage fee, which we will tell you before it starts.
  • If you decline a repair, please pick up the vehicle within 3 business days of receiving the estimate, or storage may apply.

8. Payment and discounts

  • Payment is due when the work is complete, unless we agreed to other arrangements in writing.
  • We accept cash, check, and major credit cards.
  • Returned checks are subject to a $35 returned check fee.
  • Accounts more than 30 days past due may be charged a late fee of 1.5% per month.
  • We offer a 15% military discount on labor for active-duty service members and veterans with valid ID. Please mention it at drop-off. Discounts cannot be combined with other discounts and cannot be applied after an invoice is paid.

9. Warranty and workmanship

  • 1-Year Warranty on Alternator & Starter Rebuilds. Keep your invoice; it is your proof of coverage.
  • Other parts we install are covered by the part maker's warranty. Ask us for the terms on your repair. Warranty coverage for a part does not always include labor to replace it.
  • If you believe a repair was not done right, contact us within 30 days of pickup. We will re-inspect the work at no charge and correct any fault in our workmanship.
  • Warranty does not cover normal wear, pre-existing conditions, unrelated new problems, damage from accidents or abuse, or work done by others.
  • Warranty work must be done at our shop unless we authorize otherwise in writing.

10. Limits of liability

Tough Knuckles Automotive carries liability insurance. To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for:

  • Pre-existing conditions, defects, rust, or damage not caused by our work
  • Damage from failure to disclose known problems, prior repairs, or aftermarket equipment
  • Loss of use, towing, rental, lost wages, or other indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

Except where the law does not allow it, our total liability for any claim related to a service is limited to the amount you paid for that service. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have under the Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act or other law that cannot be waived.

11. Damage claims

Please inspect your vehicle at pickup. If you believe our work caused damage, tell us in writing within 48 hours of pickup so we can inspect it while the evidence is fresh. We investigate every claim promptly.

12. Text messaging (SMS) terms

By providing your mobile number and agreeing to receive text messages — by checking the SMS consent box on one of our forms, texting us first, or giving verbal consent for request updates — you agree to these SMS terms.

  • Two separate programs: (1) Request updates — texts about your request only: appointment scheduling and reminders, estimate follow-ups, repair status updates, and replies to your questions. (2) Reminders and offers — occasional marketing texts such as maintenance reminders and special offers, sent only if you checked that separate box. Agreeing to one is not agreeing to the other.
  • Consent is not a condition of purchase. You can get an estimate and have your vehicle serviced without agreeing to texts.
  • Message frequency varies based on your interactions with us.
  • Message and data rates may apply. Check with your wireless provider for details on your plan.
  • Opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. You will get one confirmation and then no further texts. To opt back in, text us again or ask us to re-enroll your number.
  • Help: reply HELP to any message, call (419) 392-5926, or email toughknucklesautomotive@gmail.com.
  • Carriers (including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, U.S. Cellular, and others) are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • Privacy: your mobile opt-in data and consent are never sold or shared with third parties for their marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy.

13. Website use and content

  • The Site, our blog, and our calculators give general information about car care and typical repair costs. They are not a diagnosis of your vehicle and not a price quote. See our Website Disclaimer.
  • You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and not to submit false information, spam our forms, or try to access systems you are not authorized to use.
  • All Site content — text, photos, graphics, and logos — belongs to Tough Knuckles Automotive or is used with permission. Do not copy or reuse it without written permission.
  • The Site is provided "as is." We work to keep it accurate and available, but we do not guarantee it will always be error-free or online.
  • Use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.

14. General terms

  • Changes: we may update these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted here with a new date. The Terms in effect when you authorize a repair apply to that repair.
  • Governing law: these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio. Disputes will be resolved in the state courts serving Lucas County, Ohio, unless the law requires otherwise.
  • Severability: if any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
  • No waiver: if we do not enforce a term right away, we do not give up the right to enforce it later.
