Your car has miles of wire running through it. Those wires feed the lights, windows, locks, fans, and computers. When a wire breaks, rubs through, or rusts, parts of the car stop working.

Electrical work is what we do best at Tough Knuckles Automotive. Cory and Ashley built the shop around it. We trace the fault back to its source instead of just swapping parts and hoping.

Know the signs

Signs you might notice

  • Power windows, locks, or mirrors that quit working.
  • A fuse that blows again as soon as you replace it.
  • Lights that flicker or come on by themselves.
  • The dash gauges jump around or drop to zero.
  • You smell hot plastic near the fuse box or under the dash.
  • Wipers, blower fan, or turn signals that work only sometimes.

This is a general guide, not a diagnosis or repair quote. We need to inspect your car to confirm the problem and price.

What's behind it

Common causes

  • Wires that rub against metal until the cover wears off and they short out.
  • Rust and green crust on connectors from water and road salt.
  • A bad ground point where a wire bolts to the body.
  • Damage from a past repair, an add-on stereo, or a trailer hookup.
  • Rodents that chew through wire covers while the car sits.

How it works

How we handle it

1

You bring the car to Holland and show us what is not working.

2

We look at wiring diagrams for your car so we follow the right circuit.

3

We use a meter and a test light to find the exact break, short, or bad ground.

4

We repair the wire or connector the correct way, seal it, and test every part on that circuit.

What we check

  • Fuses and relays for the part of the car that is acting up.
  • Ground points for rust, paint, and loose bolts.
  • Connectors for bent pins, green crust, and water.
  • Wire runs near sharp edges, the exhaust, and moving parts.
  • Any past add-on wiring like remote start or extra lights.

Why this matters

Small electrical faults rarely fix themselves. They tend to spread as heat and rust move down the wire. A shorted wire can blow fuses, kill a part you need, or in a bad case start a fire. Finding the real cause early keeps a cheap fix from turning into a big one.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my new fuse keep blowing?
A fuse blows when too much current flows. That usually means a wire is touching metal somewhere. Putting in a bigger fuse is not safe. We find the short and fix it.
Can I drive with an electrical problem?
It depends on what is broken. A dead window is a bother. A hot wire smell or flickering lights is a real hazard. If you smell burning plastic, stop driving and call us.
How long does electrical repair take?
Simple faults can be found and fixed in a few hours. A hidden break in a wire bundle takes longer to trace. We give you a time estimate once we find it.
Do these repairs come with a warranty?
The parts we install carry their maker's warranty. Ask us for the details on your repair. We stand behind our work.
Do I need to bring the car in?
Yes. This work is done at our Holland shop at 932 Holland Park Blvd. We do not do roadside electrical work. Call ahead and we will get you a price.
Do you give a military discount?
Yes, 15% off labor for active-duty service members and veterans. Show your ID when you come in and we will apply it.
